A Garden of Hope

In a quiet village in Southern Province, Rwanda, the Tuyishimire Obed family was once struggling just to put food on the table. With five young children and no stable income, each day was a challenge. The parents, Marie and John, often went to bed worrying about school fees, nutrition, and the future.
But everything began to change when SEKA Ministries stepped in with a simple but powerful solution farming support and training.
Marie received vegetable seeds, tools, and training in organic farming techniques. John joined a savings group and learned how to raise chickens for eggs and income. The whole family got involved. What started as a small backyard garden soon grew into a source of food, pride, and income.
From Hunger to Harvest

Within a year, the Tuyishimire Obed no longer relied on food aid. Their children were eating fresh vegetables, going to school with confidence, and laughing freely again. The family began selling surplus produce at the local market, and with that money, they bought school uniforms and even started saving for a cow.
“We used to feel forgotten,” said Marie, smiling as she sorted beans under the afternoon sun. “But now, our home is full of life and purpose. SEKA Ministries gave us more than seeds—they gave us hope.”
This is the power of family empowerment. One farm. One family. A future restored.
