Village Meetings

From Gathering to Growth

How a Village Meeting Sparked Hope and Helped Prevent Hunger in Mukadasaya

In the heart of Kadasaya village affectionately known as Paris where farming is more than work, it’s survival, hunger had become an unwelcome but familiar guest. Crops were failing. Techniques were outdated. The weather was unpredictable. But rather than give up or wait for outside aid one community took its future into its own hands. And it all began with a simple meeting.

It wasn’t just a meeting, it was a moment of unity. Farmers, elders, youth, and local leaders gathered at SEKA Ministry not for ceremony, but for change. They came with stories of struggle, but also with a willingness to listen, to learn, and to lead.

What began as a conversation around shared problems quickly turned into a movement for shared solutions. Through open discussion, the community identified urgent areas of need:

  • Depleted soil
  • Lack of crop diversity
  • Poor water conservation
  • Limited access to quality seeds

SEKA Ministry responded not with handouts, but with hands-on help. Agricultural trainers introduced sustainable, climate-smart practices like composting, crop rotation, natural pest control ,and simple irrigation techniques.

Demonstration plots became classrooms. Farmers became learners and then leaders. Small learning groups were formed. Tools were shared. Experiments were run. And little by little, the land and the people began to thrive.

By the next season, the change was visible.

  • Crop yields increased.
  • Families reported food security through the dry months.
  • Confidence replaced fear.

But the biggest harvest wasn’t just food, it was faith in what a united village could accomplish together.

The meeting at SEKA Ministry proved something powerful:

Real change doesn’t always come from the top. It often begins in circles: of neighbors, of prayer, of trust.

With continued training and collective will, Kadasaya is not just avoiding hunger but it is building resilience, self-reliance and a hopeful future.
